Vic: Jaidyn's mum to scared to face court after threats
The mother of murdered toddler JAIDYN LESKIE has stayed away from the inquest into
her son's death after receiving anonymous threats against her family.
Lawyers at Melbourne Magistrates Court were today greeted by a protest organised by
Ms WILLIAMS calling for GREG DOMASZEWICZ to be forced to take the stand.
A lawyer for Mr DOMASZEWICZ has applied for the inquest to be abandoned on legal grounds.
A Supreme Court jury acquitted Mr DOMASZEWICZ of murder in December 1998, 11 months
after the 14-month-old's body was found at the bottom of Blue Rock Dam, near Moe in eastern
Victoria.
Mr DOMASZEWICZ' barrister MARK DEAN, SC, has told the court the State Coroner didn't
have the jurisdiction to call an inquest after his deputy decided against a formal hearing
in 2002.
But counsel assisting the coroner JIM KENNAN, QC, says there are provisions in the
Coroners Act to support ordering an inquest.
Mr JOHNSTONE has told the court no more evidence will be heard until he rules on the application.
