NSW: Showbags safe and show will go on

Three showbags have been withdrawn from sale because of violence and safety concerns
-- but the Royal Easter Show will go on today.

One cartoon showbag aimed at six to 10-year-olds included an adult comic book containing
excessive violence.

It's the first time showbags have been scrutinised following a complaint to the Fair
Trading Office by a Sydney mother last year.

A spokesman for Fair Trading Minister JOHN WATKINS says some products are life threatening,
such as small items which if swallowed may suffocate children.
