FIGURE SKATER SHARPENS, JUST IN CASE.(SPORTS)

Over the next few weeks Darya Zuravicky of Guilderland is going to be spending most of her days on the ice at the Knickerbacker Ice Arena in Troy.

The 18-year-old figure skater is training for a competition she isn't registered for, but she knows she could be called into action at any time. Zuravicky is the first alternate for the 2004 State Farm U.S. Figure Skating Championships in January in Atlanta.

In November at the Eastern Section Championships in Lake Placid, the top four overall finishers advanced to the national championship competition. Only the top four finishers at three different section championships …
